As of 2006, all individuals practicing home inspection in the State of New Jersey are required to maintain a license. In order to meet licensing requirements, a home inspector must possess a substantial knowledge base of all major systems and components of residential construction. Evidence of a working knowledge of these areas must be submitted to the Home Inspection Advisory Committee of the State Department of Consumer Affairs in the form of a passing score on the National Home Inspector Exam, prior year tax returns(to prove experience requirements), educational course certificates and the verification that written reports adhere to the State standards of practice and reporting. HomeSpect inspectors currently hold State licenses and conduct all inspections in accordance with the rules set forth in the New Jersey Administrative Code contained in N.J.A.C. 13:40-15.

Our inspectors are certified members of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI®). The American Society of Home Inspectors was the first professional organization to establish a code of ethics and standards of practice in the home inspection community. In addition, ASHI® has established continuing education requirements to ensure their member inspectors keep current on new building and mechanical developments.
